- Meeting called to order at 9:09 am.
- Introductions/Attendees: In Person: Amy Mecak, Heather Segrest, Jane Flavin, Jim Haen, Bill
Young, Craig Radach, Andy Lovell - Reviewed 4/09/2025 meeting minutes.
Action Taken: Motion: Amy Mecak, 2 nd: Jane Flavin. Approved Unanimously - Treasurer Report – Amy Mecak
● Financial report: Total AORA funds are $ 35,288.52, some of which are designated funds (e.g. for
Disc Golf). $2,000 received from the County Tobacco funds. $2,093 is designated from TRP Disc
Golf.
● SWAG: Coozies and ATA stickers are needed, Amy Mecak to follow up. Jane Flavin will follow up
on baseball caps. Compasses are also needed (Bill Young). We will wait to order tri-folds until we see
how much is completed on Curtz Lake. - Community Outreach Person – Jim Haen
● Membership Appreciation Event 9-14-25: Working on pre-positioning soil. Crew Leaders:
Andy Lovell & Jane Flavin (Crew 1- Close to the gate), Craig Radich (Crew 2-Loping up
high), Heather and Clay (Crew 3-Ditch above washout). Host/shuttle: Amy Mecak. Setup
will be at 8:30 am. Future discussion: Adding an upper gate with Desolation (on their
property). - Secretary- Bill Young:
● Disc Golf Application and Grant Request: Terrapin Pines is the new name. USFS Special
Use Permit is expected this fall. NEPA is almost finished. Tree removal is under review.
Survey completed and forwarded to USFS. Construction to begin in the spring. SNC grant is
expected to be about $350k, mainly for vault toilet and parking lot. County to become the
main applicant. CCC request initiated but no response so far. - Deputy Director – Jane Flavin
● Hosting Tribal Youth – Still awaiting follow-up with Jeanne Mortimer. No more action until
request from Hung-a-lel-ti
● Boy Scouts – Desolation: only one scout and one parent have responded.
● DVS and ATA Collaboration: Initial meeting but follow-up is expected after the school year
settles. - Equipment Operations Officer – Craig Radach
● Chainsaw, fuel container, folding table have already been approved. Backpack has been
purchased. Still evaluating larger chain saws. Stihl will handle up to 36” bar and is
maintenance free (no choke, fuel injected, $1900). Does not require special fuel but
premium, no ethanol. Echo is carburetor, heavier and considerably cheaper ($800-900).
Board prefers the Stihl. Craig and Amy to work together to make the purchase.
- Directors Report – Andy Lovell
● Curtz Lake 9/27/25: Event is scheduled with BLM to put up all of the old signs along with a
kiosk message about why the old signs are installed (to teach history). BLM to bring about
12 and hope to have 12 ATA volunteers. - Trails Operations Officer – Heather Segrest
Fall workday plans: Workdays will start high and come down. Tuesday workdays begin Sept
23 and will continue weekly until November 25. Sept 23 will be Burnside Lake trail.
Thornburg and Charity trails are pending. The Old Hope Valley Road maintenance will be
evaluated for future work. - New Business
● Newsletter: Jane Flavin will contact AWG (Bella Kurtz) for suggestions and develop a draft - Next meeting: The next meeting was set for January 17, 11-1, TRP. Pizza and salad. Another
board meeting may be scheduled as needed. - Adjournment at: 11:19 am.
