Tuesday June 2, 2026

Hi Volunteers,

We had so much fun up Thornburg Canyon Trail today that we’re heading back this Tuesday, June 2nd. We found more trees down in the Wilderness than we expected, so we are sending a crew 2-3 miles in with hand saws and McLeods to take out a couple dozen trees, and grasses and weeds that are trying to take over. This would get us to the top of the burn scar and could be the last trip we need to do up Thornburg this spring…if we get enough volunteers!

If you’re not into the longer hike we’re happy to accommodate by keeping another crew lower down working on grass and weed removal along the first mile of trail.

Please meet at the Markleeville Admin parking lot at 8:00 am. We’ll carpool from there up to the trailhead, and return to cars by 1:00.

Please respond and let us know your preference

Please RSVP “Reply to All” if you plan to attend any workday. Be aware, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for all ATA workdays. Volunteers must wear long sleeves and pants, closed toe shoes, gloves, sunglasses and hardhats. We provide the tools, hardhats, instruction, trained safety personnel and equipment. Please bring food and water to last the workday. A backpack for carrying food, water, and supplies is recommended. No late arrivals please and if you wish to leave early you will need a partner and your own transportation.
