Tuesday, Nov 11, Charity Valley East

Hello Volunteers,

After a very successful day on Burnside Lake Trail last week we are returning to lower Charity Valley Trail this Tuesday the 11th. The plan is to complete the gap where we left off two weeks ago and the Burnside Trail intersection. The work will mainly address the encroaching brush and improving drainage and will require a hike of between 1.5-2 miles in and then again back out. Depending on turnout we will also try to staff a sawyer crew. The good news is that it’s downhill coming home and we do have new access permissions which shortens the hike considerably.

Please meet at the Grover Hotsprings Campground overflow parking area at 9:00 am. Expect to return to your car around 1:00 pm.

If weather or turnout is a factor the backup plan is to work the first mile of the Charity Valley Trail from Hotsprings Rd. to the campground, which we can approach from the same location working 1 mile in the opposite (easterly) direction. Both of these segments and one more day at Curtz Lake are the three remaining priorities to address this fall before we wrap things up for the winter.

I understand this is a holiday so some may not be able to attend, but maybe some others who can’t usually make it will be able to join us. Please rsvp so we have a good estimate for tools and planned projects.

Happy Veterans Day! Hope to see you there.

Please RSVP “Reply to All” if you plan to attend any workday. Be aware, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for all ATA workdays. Volunteers must wear long sleeves and pants, closed toe shoes, gloves, sunglasses and hardhats. We provide the tools, hardhats, instruction, trained safety personnel and equipment. Please bring food and water to last the workday. A backpack for carrying food, water, and supplies is recommended. No late arrivals please and if you wish to leave early you will need a partner and your own transportation.
