Saturday June 1st
Hello ATA Volunteers,
We're changing it up a bit for this Saturday, June 1st. We will be doing our first trail day of the year behind Desolation Hotel HV (formerly known as Sorensen's). This will be an easy access event but with some rather strenuous work planned. Most drainage issues which caused flooding were mitigated last year, but the first half mile of trail was badly eroded in the winter of 22/23, so it needs some major tread work. We will be using McLoeds, picks and shovels to try to get the road looking more like a trail. Hard work yes, but there will be plenty of time to enjoy the area and plan for future improvements.
We will meet on the Frontage Road in Woodfords in front of the old Woodfords Towing garage. We will carpool from there to the trailhead which only has parking for a few vehicles. Please meet in Woodfords at 9:00 am and expect to return to Woodfords by 1:00 pm. Jim Haen and Heather will be your crew leaders for the day.
Please be aware, personal protective equipment (PPE's) are required for all ATA workdays. Volunteers must wear long sleeves and pants, closed toe shoes, gloves, sunglasses and hardhats. We provide the tools, hardhats, instruction, trained safety personnel and equipment. Please bring food and water to last the workday. A backpack for carrying food, water, and supplies is recommended
