Workday Tuesday, Oct 6

Hello ATA Volunteers,

Our next ATA Workday will be Tuesday, October 6th. Our plan is to honor our friend, colleague and Trail Operations Officer Extraordinaire, Heather, by focusing on one of her favorite trails. ATA  has been given permission from the Hawkins Peak Road Neighborhood to access their co owned 40 acre parcel. The Trail Plan is to meet just west of 520 Hawkins Peak Road at 9am. Please plan to park along the side of the road.  It will be a pretty easy day of creating a more visible trail head, lopping overgrowth, and performing general trail maintenance. The 40 acre trail is a gentle sloping 3 mile loop. At the halfway point, you’ll have an opportunity to see Heather’s Memorial. We will return to our cars by noon. The Leaders for the day will be Bruce LaBelle and Jane Flavin.

A group of ATA sawyers is headed up High Trail for an overnight Tuesday-Wednesday, and some members need to attend an important BOS meeting, so we’ll be missing some of our regular volunteers. Because of this we would be grateful if you could find the time to join us at Hawkins Peak Neighborhood for this community workday event. Please help spread the word. Well behaved canine family members are welcome.

Please RSVP “Reply to All” if you plan to attend any workday. Be aware, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for all ATA workdays. Volunteers must wear long sleeves and pants, closed toe shoes, gloves, sunglasses and hardhats. We provide the tools, hardhats, instruction, trained safety personnel and equipment. Please bring food and water to last the workday. A backpack for carrying food, water, and supplies is recommended. No late arrivals please and if you wish to leave early you will need a partner and your own transportation. Dogs are allowed only on days where the crew leaders feel it is appropriate – see pre-event email for details. —
